Location

The Merulana Inn is near the splendid Santa Maria Maggiore basilica, the "snow basilica" one of the four patriarchal churches of Rome, near the square of the same name, just a stone's throw from the magnificent city center.

Less than fifteen minutes from our guest house is the imposing Colosseum, the ancient gladiator arena, one of the symbols of Rome; walking down the adjacent Via dei Fori Imperiali you'll find religious ruins, the Traianeo market and the captivating Arch of Constantine.

At the end of this journey through time you'll find yourself in front of the Vittoriano monument and stairs to the Altar of the Fatherland; at the foot of the Campidoglio hill opens the beautiful Piazza Venezia that flows into the long and lively Via del Corso.

The long Via del Corso artery intersects with Via dei Condotti, where the fashion label store fronts and luxurious boutique will make your eyes sparkle on your way to the famous Spanish Steps; the staircase that leads to the Trinità dei Monti church and the Barcaccia fountain are just some of the monuments that have made this captivating spot famous.

  • Charming guest house in Rome

If you're near the Quirinale hill, seat of the President of the Italian Republic, you're just a few steps away from the magnificent Trevi fountain, an eighteenth century creation that expertly combines Baroque and Classicism with surprising effects; it has always been one of the most popular tourist attractions in Rome and tradition has it that throwing a coin into the fountain ensures your return visit to the Eternal City. Walking the other way down Via del Tritone, you're less than ten minutes from Piazza Barberini, where one of Gian Lorenzo Bernini's most famous works will astound you: the Tritone fountain. Palazzo Barberini houses the National Gallery of Ancient Art, which exhibits the works of Caravaggio, Holbein, Tiziano and Raffaello.

Piazza Navona. Let the unique Baroque architecture in Piazza Navona seduce you! The delightful Sant’Agnese church and magnificent Fountain of Four Rivers are the works that adorn this ancient Roman stadium, also the home to Pietro da Cortona's splendid frescoes in Palazzo Pamphili. If you're in Rome at Christmas, don't miss out on the special atmosphere created by the markets and shops in the square!
